          Please note:

Ø       The prescribed form of application together with the fee to be sent to the Clerk of the Parish Council

       prior to excavating the grave. (Cheques payable to Redlynch Parish Council)

Ø       Please instruct gravediggers to pay particular attention to the backfilling of grave after interment to prevent early sinking.

Ø       It is the responsibility of the grave purchaser to ensure the grave is levelled after the appropriate time; this must be completed prior to a monument being erected.

Specification

 

GRAVESTONES

Ø      All monuments to be fixed on a base of concrete or stone and shall be not more than 36”high x 24” wide x 18” deep.

Ø      The base shall be set so that its upper face is level with the ground.

Ø      Monuments to be set on the base to be a maximum height of 36” from the base or ground level.

Ø      The monument to be dimensioned so that a minimum clearance of 3” is left on all faces measured from the edges of the base.

THE ABOVE INSTRUCTIONS ARE TO ENSURE THAT NO MONUMENT IS PLACED ON ANY GRAVE THAT EXCEEDS AN OVERALL SIZE OF 36” IN HEIGHT, 24” IN WIDTH AND 18” IN DEPTH.

Ø      Any floral tributes and vases (which must be moveable) to be placed on the base only.

Ø      The grave number and the name of the mason must be inscribed on the rear of the monument.

 

CREMATION TABLETS

Monuments may be placed on the base provided in the Remembrance Garden with the following provisos: -

Ø      All monuments to be fixed on the base must not exceed 24” in height - the height taken  

      from the  Council's base provided.

Ø      The Council's base will be set so that it's upper face is level with the ground.

Ø      The monument to be dimensioned so that a minimum clearance of 3” is left on all faces measured from the edges of the base.

Ø      Any floral tributes and vases (which must be moveable) to be placed on the base only.

N.B THE INTENTION IS TO ACHIEVE A MONUMENT 24” HIGH X 18”WIDE X 18” DEEP

 

o        The above instructions are issued to simplify and regularise existing arrangements and will be strictly enforced.

o        Applications to erect a monument (either gravestone or cremation tablet) must be accompanied by a sketch-to scale, the proposal, a copy of which to be authorised by a councillor or authorised officer (ie The Clerk).

o        Any fees due must be paid to the Council prior to the erection of any monument. It is the responsibility of the grave purchaser to ensure the grave is levelled after the appropriate time; this must be completed prior to a monument being erected.
